Grabbers, and finally a fish

Simon Johnson June 12, 2019

Another beautiful sunny morning to sail to Guana Cay. We found a sandy patch to drop anchor and took the dinghy ashore to Grabbers. A beachside bar and restaurant with a pool and a variety of games: Jenga, Connect 4, Ring and Hook, and Cornhole to name but a few.

A dip in the pool to cool down with our rum punches and beers  before a lunch of chicken strips and fries. We were challenged to a game of Cornhole by Paul and Lee. There is a board with a hole in it and you take it in turns to chuck beanbags into the hole. 2 points if it goes down the hole, 1 point if it lands on the board. A very close game with Paul and Lee being the final victors with a score of 11-10.

The plan was to stay anchored off Guana Cay for the night, but there was no breeze and with no generator to fire up the air conditioning, it would be a hot and sticky night. So we headed back to Conch Marina for the night.

Once again we put the lure out and Simon managed to hook a fish. Excitement all round, would we be grilling grouper for dinner? Alas no, it was a barracuda which is not good eating so he was unhooked after a bit of a fight and thrown back.

We moored at Conch Inn back at Marsh Harbour, and it was Gin and Tonics all round, followed by a dip in the pool and a nice long shower.

We then set off for Snappas for a couple of evening drinks before retiring to our mercifully cool beds.
