We got up bright and early and went for a walk around Little Harbour before setting off for some deep sea fishing off the shelf in The Atlantic. We followed the birds, kept to the shelf but to no avail. No fish today! ....AGAIN!
We then headed to Tilloo Bank which is a bank of sand just off Tillloo Cay. We dropped anchor as this was where we were to spend the night. We took the dinghy to the bank and dipped in the shallow turquoise waters. We saw lots of rays in the shallows and hundreds of tiny fish. After a couple of beers, we returned to The Odyssea.
It was pizza and beer night! Woohoo! Make your own pizza topping with tomato pasta sauce, mozzarella, a variety of herbs and spices, black olives, pepperoni and more cheese on a tortilla. Throw it on the barbecue on top of a piece of foil, close the lid and a few minutes later you have the most delicious pizza. We are going to do this when we get back to the UK on our barbecue. Try it, I guarantee you’ll love it.
After a gin and tonic or two we settled down for the night. No generator, so no air conditioning but with the hatches open you get a nice breeze through the cabin. Lee and I slept on deck as we still get too hot. Then at about 10 pm, the storm arrived. ... thunder, lightening, rain so we had to close the hatches and the windows on deck. It was stifling hot and we kept getting dripped on. It was going to be a long night! The storm stopped at about 2:30 am so we got a few hours sleep before sunrise at 6:15.
Paul made a fabulous breakfast of cheesy sausages and scrambled egg (wrapped in foil) on the barbecue. Fantastic! We took the dinghy to the bank at low tide and saw many more rays. Beautiful and graceful creatures with a sting in the tail.
We raised anchor and headed back to Seaspray Marina. Once docked, we got a golf cart and toured a bit more of the island before going back to "On Da Beach" for a lovely lunch of chicken, fish and vegetable kebabs. The golf cart was quite old and we had trouble getting 4 of us up the hills, even pedestrians could overtake us!
We spent the afternoon at the pool at the Marina and decided that being as we had a golf cart we would go back into Hope Town for dinner and drinks. We had the most amazing taco salad with chicken and steak. The bar at the marina was in full party swing when we got back, but with no breeze, and electric hookup, we took full advantage of the air conditioning on board and had a nice full, cool nights sleep.
A hearty English breakfast again cooked by Paul before checking out at 11. So farewell, Hope Town and Seaspray, we are setting off for Ghana Cay.
