We had a very relaxed morning in Marsh Harbour, dipping in and out of the pool and reading our books, waiting whilst the nautical engineer looked at our generator. Good news! A little after lunchtime the engineer announced that he had resolved the generator cooling issue, and we were good to go.
We made the short hop up to Matt Lowe's Cay, a private island with the most beautiful beaches and lots of signs warning us to beware of the dogs; which we ignored. Jayne and I took as stroll along the beaches and then chugged up and down looking for turtles and rays. We didn't see any rays, but did catch sight of several large turtles. Unfortunately neither of us were up to the task of getting a decent photo, they were so quick.
We then messed around swimming off of the back of the boat for a while, before deciding to have a cup of tea. However, when we attempted to fire up the generator, it wouldn't bloody start. A problem that seems totally unrelated to the previous issue. So once again, no cooking (there is no gas on this boat), no air conditioning and no device charging. Boohoo!
We spent a warm night anchored off the beach, and the next morning we headed off for Hope Town on Elbow Cay. Hope Town is a pretty little place with a lighthouse and lots of pastel coloured houses surrounding the inlet that serves as the harbour. We moored on a buoy in the harbour.
After exploring the town and doing a little shopping, Jayne and I decided to walk the mile down the road to a famous bar called "On Da Beach ". It was blisteringly hot and we were lucky enough to pick up a lift in a golf cart for the last quater mile. Golf carts are the main form of road transport on some of the Cays.
We were also lucky enough to pick up a lift near all the way back. I took the dinghy over to The Odyssea to pick up Paul and Lee for a late lunch in a very pleasant harbourside restaurant. We spent the night on our mooring buoy.
